#FridayFunny

The interview… the networking event… the hiring fair… heck, sometimes it can happen at a family barbecue. Someone asks a question and you know you want to tell them the truth, but instead, you smile and cover with the answer they actually need to hear, rather than the one you compose in your head all the way home. It’s almost the weekend—three cheers to the answers we can’t give, and getting it done anyway.
You know, it’s funny you should ask. I’m often asked about my spouse’s career and their hopes for the future… you might say I’m like their unofficial secretary. You’ll find that under the “special skills” section of my resume, page two.
"Where do you see yourself five years from now?"
Staring at a moving box, wondering whether it’s really worth it to unpack it… or if I can get away with shoving it into the “guest room” until the next move. Despite the vague label “living room,” I’ve got a fifty-fifty shot that I could guess properly without even trying. It’s a gift.

I put on real clothes, fought the urge to lie on the floor, and managed to be a productive member of society, despite the fact that I hadn’t met anyone after living in that town for three months. Oh, and by the time I moved again, I’d become a team leader and increased our fundraising capabilities by fifteen percent. That’s the answer you were looking for, isn’t it?
What’s your dream job?
I don’t know. That’s never been presented as an option. Let me get back to you. Let’s say this one for now. It seems swell.

An employer who is willing to be flexible, work that makes me feel alive and like I’m actually doing something useful, and a paycheck that does more than make my accountant pity me during tax season. Do you have a job that’s the equivalent of a magical unicorn (PCS-proof)?
How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
I get the job done…? Is there another option? I must have missed that email. It probably came in while I was trying to figure out our healthcare coverage.
Do you have an answer you’d love to give, but the good sense to know it wouldn’t go over well? Send it along to us… maybe we’ll feature it on a Friday Funny. After all, we have to laugh or we’d cry.
Happy Friday!
