The new year also is a great time for reflection. There’s the adage that encourages to not live in the past, or to only move forward, however, reflecting on your past is necessary to move forward. Reflection shows growth and improvement, which can fuel your goals. I remember when I was finishing my degree program, I was so exhausted from constantly pushing myself. It was difficult being overseas, with a new baby, a school-aged child, and my husband was constantly gone for his military duty. I’ll be honest, I contemplated quitting. There was one quote that was so simple, yet it was so empowering and encouraging.
“You didn’t come this far, to only come this far.”
If I only focused on how much work I had left to do, the choice to quit would have been easy. Looking back on how much time, effort and resources I had already committed, instead had shown me how close I was to the finish line.
This New Year, take a moment to realize your dreams and goals and to set up plans to accomplish them. Make sure you also take time to look at what you’ve done and appreciate your growth and look ahead with a renewed vision not of what you have to do, but of how close you are. Don't get stuck in the past and analyze everything, but look at the whole picture. Don't get caught up in the details looking at the trees, that you miss seeing the whole forest.
Happy new Year from our team here at CASY & MSCCN. We’re wishing you a successful and happy 2019, and we want to be your source to make your career dreams happen!
