Spouse Magazine :: MSCCN Honored with 2007 and 2008
Who's Who of Military Spouses!
MSCCN was honored in 2007 when Deb Kloeppel, MSCCN CEO and President, was
selected by the Military Spouse magazine as a Who's Who of Military Spouses. You
may read about her selection and others honored here.
MSCCN was recently notified that Anne Wight, MSCCN Editor and Director, Program
Quality Control was selected as a Who's Who of Military Spouses for 2008. "This is
very humbling for me." said Anne. "I'm now 60-something and nearing the end of my
career. So many military spouses are struggling daily to balance work and family in
their military lifestyle. I am especially impressed by the applicants with whom I
interact and the fabulous military spouses on the MSCCN Team."

MSCCN Wins the Prestigious "Diversity Military World Homefront Award"
for 2008 :: from the Diversity Military World Organization
On October 4, 2008, Dr. Chu, Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness,
presented the MSCCN with the Diversity Military World Homefront Award for Diversity.
"We were the only nonprofit selected to win this award," said Deb Kloeppel. It was
the most compelling moment in MSCCN's four year history."
240 invited guests included Flag and Senior Officers and
Enlisted military members and their spouses. Also in attendance
were top DOD and OSD government officials and top military
supportive employers.
"I looked out into the crowd of 240 faces and realized I had
the entire floor for a 15-minute period during my keynote" said
Deb Kloeppel, President and CEO of MSCCN and Pinnacle
Foundation. "It was a surreal moment."
"For some reason the words came out effortlessly when talking
to this prestigious crowd about the patriotism, unyielding
dedication, and staying power of military spouses. Trying never
to tug at heart strings during a keynote, I focused my subject
matter on military spouse staying power. The topic resonated
with this particular military and corporate crowd. If MSCCN
never wins another award, it wouldn't matter. Taking home a
diversity award from the Diversity Military World Organization
is the ONLY award I ever wanted or needed."

Sue Shellenbarger's article entitled "Military
Recruits: Employers Make An Effort to Hire Soldiers'
Spouses" brings MSCCN's partnership with Concentra, Boeing,
Trammell Crow, Magellan Health
Services and Brass Ring to the attention of the public.
The article notes that MSCCN has the formal support of the US
Navy, the US Coast Guard, the
US Marine Corps and the US Air Force.
It also examines the resources that are available to help military
spouses find employment like
MSCCN, Military.com and the National Military Family Association.
MSCCN greatly appreciates Sue Shellenbarger's astute insights
and thanks her for awakening of
the business community to the fact that military spouses are excellent
employees who have
been overlooked and misjudged!
