Deb Kloeppel, MSCCN CEO, was honored by the special invitation by Gen. Duncan J. McNabb, Commander, U.S. Transportation Command,
Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and his wife, Linda, to attend the “Parent-2-Parent” conference on Thursday, April 22, 2010.
“General McNabb is the single manager for global air, land and sea transportation for the Department of Defense, so you can imagine
the enormous responsibility his wife, Linda, carries on her shoulders – daily,” said Deb Kloeppel. “Mrs. McNabb conducted the workshop that advocates the educational rights of a military child within the public school system, which in turn preps the military child for entry into a civilian college or military academy. With all of the duties Linda is expected to perform, to take on an additional advocacy role regarding the military child and working military moms, is absolutely amazing to me!” Linda McNabb and Deb Kloeppel will host a state-wide Missouri and southern Illinois workshop together to focus on The Military Child and The Working Military Mom on August 7, 2010. More details are to follow. Bio for General McNabb can be found here. |

MSCCN's Deb Kloeppel Met with Mrs. Becky Gates |
|
Deb Kloeppel and Mrs. Becky Gates, wife of Secretary
of Defense Robert Gates, met for an informal, private one-on-one breakfast on
Saturday, August 22 to discuss military spouse employment issues and career
management. "Mrs. Gates and I are kindred spirits concerning employment, vocational
training, and job placement opportunities for the military spouse and military
community at large. You see, since Mrs. Gates was a college career counselor
for 28 years, the conversation flowed like electricity - and we're definitely
on the same wave length regarding the passion we hold for job opportunities
and job placement of our military community and Veterans alike. The time I spent
with Mrs. Gates was a private one-on-one opportunity of a lifetime. I'm still
thrilled to have met her. We didn't' wear make up, we didn't have protocol all
over our conversation - we were just two women talking passionately about our
military and the employment programs available to them. This country is VERY
lucky to have Secretary of Defense and Mrs. Gates in the position they are in
regarding our beloved military community," said Deb Kloeppel.

| Kloeppels Visit King Ranch | |
|
|
|
Tio and Janell Kleberg, shareholders in King Ranch,
a private family business in Kingsville, Texas invited Dan
and Deb Kloeppel to stay on the ranch for several days.
"The visit was fabulous" said Deb. "King Ranch
is one of the largest private family owned ranches in the United
States. Tio (Kleberg) gave us a personal tour of this magnificent
ranch. Everyone should know about King Ranch if they care about
our nation's history. Janell Kleberg, former military spouse,
wrote a wonderful book, Waiting for Daylight. If you have a guy
in your life, I highly recommend this book. The book brings out
the inner cowboy and cowgirl in everyone...
no matter how citified you might be."
Tio Kleberg served proudly in the U.S. Army and remains a staunch supporter of the U.S. military. Information about the amazing King Ranch experience: http://www.king-ranch.com/legacy_overview.html |

MSCCN Attends the Beyond Tribute Launch on 21 May 2009 |
|
|
Beyond Tribute's mission is to redefine the future
of the Memorial and Veterans Day holidays by engaging the American
business community and its customers in a national campaign. They
are partnering with major retailers raising charitable dollars to
benefit those who are struggling with the wounds of war, including
the invisible wounds: post traumatic stress disorder, traumatic
brain injury and combat-induced anxiety and depression. In other
words, they are asking for a call to action partnered with honor
for all who have served.

Press conference participants included Dr. Jill Bidden, wife of Vice
President Joe Bidden; U.S Rep. Bob Filner (D-CA), chairman of the House
Committee on Veterans' Affairs; Georgia Carter-Krell, national president of
the American Gold Star Mothers, INC; Iraq war veteran Sgt Charles Eggleston
and his wife Pamela (pictured above), and General Wesley Clark, former
presidential candidate and former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO.
Retired Sgt Eggleston, recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze star, bravely recounted the day of his injury when hit by an IED in Iraq. His wife Pam by his side, and military spouse extraordinaire, eloquently spoke of their long journey navigating their struggles through multiple surgeries and health care issues as a warrior and family in transition. She became not only his advocate, but out of love and necessity, his primary caregiver as well. MSCCN proudly supports organizations that are reaching out to this often disenfranchised part of our military family. Military spouses, veterans, war wounded, and their caregivers are all included in our charge and the MSCCN mission as well. Pictured below is MSCCN Team member, Bobbie Bruzdzinski, at the Beyond Tribute event.
