A note from Deb Kloeppel, Founder and CEO, CASY-MSCCN

“Truth be told, female Veterans can perform any job handed to them – and perform it well - yet they're screened out of jobs. Why? Many corporate recruiters are not familiar with military terms and military culture and this can cause misinterpretation of wording on resumes together with a lack of communication or full understanding during corporate phone interviews and on-site job interviews."  Read this article for interview guidance.

First Issue:

Female Veterans served their country while giving up their personal and family life in the process and, often, placing their higher education on the back burner.  Because the job market attracts stellar candidates within every job – every corporation, every time – female Vets are screened out of the applicant pool for lacking even the most minor soft skill, in the eye of the corporate recruiter, and this is key!

Many times, corporate recruiters do not understand the EXACT military-to-civilian skillsets the female Vet brings to the table.  For instance: a female Veteran use a military term to define skill set, which matches the civilian job perfectly. However, the recruiter doesn't understand the term and makes the final decision to screen out a very qualified female Veteran applicant. Thus, the final disconnect happens.

I'd like to see civilian female applicants work overseas, separated from their family for a year, reconnect with their children and husband (if the husband stayed in the marriage) after the separation, transition into a new way of life, while in a corporate job search! How focused would they be? Ha..

Second Issue:

Translation of skillsets within a military-to-civilian resume is an enormous problem today, and because corporations change their lingo, product lines, and technology every three years (the duration of most deployments) female veterans have to play catch-up .. DURING their job search. This is a constant no-win situation.

To make matters worse, civilian recruiters do not understand military culture – and guess what? They don't have to. Even though your military service to our country is valued by the employer – they're not going to hire you to perform your prior military duty – they're hiring you to hit the ground running within your new civilian job.

MSCCN has performed this type of "hit-the-ground-running” job search, job match, job placement solution for seven years, with proven measurable success.

Because we live the military life here at CASY-MSCCN – we know exactly what you face out there in the way of employment opportunities as a Female Veteran in the corporate workforce.

In audio presentations and (personal one-on-one) virtual training environments, Deb and Jennifer will explain why:

Big Job Boards are absolutely outdated
Social Media outlets have gone too far out-of-the-box to remain effective as a consistent source of job placement
Why soft skills are the differential factor in the competition for certain jobs
Most employment programs clump the Female Veteran with other military affiliated candidates - and why this has to stop
The hidden discrimination of single Female Vets with kids in the competition for a job
How to educate your corporate recruiter appropriately regarding your military history
Why Female Vets accidentally intimate corporate recruiters and non female Vets in a job search

These are only a few of the topics we'll discuss during our training time together. Once the training is complete and you have the resume you're proud to distribute .. CASY-MSCCN will hit the bricks to assist you find wonderful jobs, stepping stone jobs and your “destiny career”.
